What we look at in a bingo review

Bingo is judged differently from casino or betting, because the experience depends on who else is in the room. A site with an enormous jackpot and four players in the room at nine on a Tuesday evening is a worse proposition than a busy site with modest prizes. Our bingo reviews look at the schedule, the size of the rooms at the times people actually play, and what the tickets cost relative to what is on offer.

Every review follows the same structure: a quick facts table with the welcome offer, minimum deposit and withdrawal timings, with conditions printed under each figure, then strengths, things worth knowing, and a verdict.

How we rate bingo sites

Each site is scored out of five against the weighted criteria set out on our how we rate page.

Payouts and banking carry 30%, covering withdrawal speed, supported methods, and whether stated timings hold in practice.

Offer quality is 25%. Bingo bonuses are usually split into bingo funds and games funds, with different wagering attached to each, and the split is easy to miss. We read both.

Rooms and platform is 20%, covering the schedule, ticket prices, room variety, chat moderation and how the site behaves on a phone.

Licensing and conduct is 15%, and support and safer gambling tools is 10%.

Bonuses and the funds split

A typical bingo welcome offer reads as 'spend £10, play with £40'. What that usually means is £10 of your own money plus £30 in bonus funds, where the bonus portion is restricted to bingo rooms, carries wagering, and may expire within days. Free spins attached to the offer are typically games funds with their own separate requirement.

Read three things: which rooms the bonus funds can be used in, what the wagering requirement is on each portion, and what the maximum withdrawal from bonus play is. Some offers cap it at a multiple of the deposit regardless of what you win.

Rooms, schedules and prize funds

The room schedule is the product. We look at how many rooms run concurrently at peak and off-peak times, ticket price ranges, whether guaranteed jackpots are genuinely guaranteed or reduced when the room is quiet, and whether progressive jackpots are pooled across a network or held at a single site.

Ninety-ball and seventy-five-ball are the mainstays, with speed variants and themed rooms alongside. Prebuy and autoplay features matter if you play more than one room at once. Chat moderation matters more than newcomers expect: on established sites the chat hosts are a substantial part of why people stay.

What a ticket actually costs you

Bingo is one of the few gambling products where the cost of play is easy to calculate in advance, and worth doing. A room with a £100 guaranteed jackpot, tickets at 10p and sixty players buying six tickets each is paying out roughly three times what it takes in, which is why those rooms are usually promotional and time-limited. The same room at peak with four hundred players buying ten tickets is a very different proposition.

We look at the relationship between ticket prices and prize funds across the schedule rather than at the headline jackpot, and note where a site relies on a small number of heavily promoted rooms to make the rest look better than it is.

Side games and the slots problem

Almost every bingo site places slots alongside the rooms, and for many players that is where the money actually goes. It is worth knowing that side games are usually excluded from bingo bonus funds, carry their own wagering, and are governed by the same statutory stake limits as any online slot — £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over, £2 for those aged 18 to 24.

We note how prominently a site pushes side games during a bingo session, because a room that interrupts play to advertise slots is designed around a different revenue model from one that does not.

Community, chat and hosts

The reason people stay at a bingo site is rarely the prize fund. Chat rooms, chat games with their own small prizes, and hosts who moderate consistently are what distinguish an established site from a new one with a bigger offer. We look at whether chat is staffed at the times the rooms are busiest, whether chat games are genuinely additional or simply recycle ticket money, and how moderation handles the kind of behaviour that drives people away.

Mobile matters here as much as anywhere. Bingo is played in short sessions on a phone, often alongside something else, and a site that requires constant attention to daub or that loses your place when a call interrupts it will not hold anyone for long.

Payments and verification

Credit cards cannot be used to gamble in Great Britain. Verification is required before withdrawal, and licensed operators must complete essential checks at registration. We record minimum withdrawal amounts and any pending period during which a withdrawal can be cancelled back into your balance.
